Defence: Detection of Transport Operations using Geolocation Data

Jorge Tavares concluded his Master's Dissertation entitled “Detection of #transportoperation from #geolocation data”. In this work, a methodology using geolocation data as an input was developed to analyze #businessprocess. The methodology was defined in order to support the management of vehicle-based processes and can be used as a steppingstone to develop a novel process #modeling approach. Congratulations, Jorge!

Participation at the 24th EURO Working Group on Transportation Meeting

Today, Jorge Tavares presented the research work “Detection of vehicle-based operations from #geolocation data” at the 24th Euro Working Group on Transportation Meeting - #EWGT2021. In this work, we studied the application of diverse approaches for detecting vehicle-based operations and identified different operations related to the #bus services. The operations were characterized according to the distribution of the events, allowing…

Presentation at the 7th IEEE International Smart Cities Conference

Public opinion is nowadays a valuable data source for many sectors. We analyzed the #transportation sector using messages extracted from #Twitter. Contrasting with the traditional surveying methods that are high-cost and inefficient used in the transportation sector, #socialmedia are popular sources of crowdsensing. We used BERT #embeddings, an unsupervised pre-trained model released in 2018, to classify travel-related terms using tweets collected…

Knowledge-Assisted Visualization of Multi-Level Origin-Destination Flows Using Ontologies

Origin-destination matrices help understand the movement of people within cities. Recently, we published a research work that built upon the premise that different stakeholders need to analyze mobility flows from spatio-temporal perspectives that are appropriate to their context of analysis. Herein we report our findings on building the semantic foundation of knowledge-assisted visualization tools for analyzing OD matrices from multiple…
